Ecclesiastes 1
All Is Vanity
1The words of the Preacher, the son of David, king in Jerusalem.
2“Vanity of vanities,” says the Preacher,
“Vanity of vanities! All is vanity.”
3¶What advantage does man have in all his labor
In which he labors under the sun?
4A generation goes and a generation comes,
But the earth stands forever.
5Also, the sun rises and the sun sets;
And hastening to its place it rises there again.
6Going toward the south,
Then circling toward the north,
The wind goes circling along;
And on its circular courses the wind returns.
7All the rivers go into the sea,
Yet the sea is not full.
To the place where the rivers go,
There they continually go.
8All things are wearisome;
Man is not able to speak of it.
The eye is not satisfied with seeing,
Nor is the ear filled with hearing.

I Am the Way, the Truth, and the Life
1 “Do not let your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me. 2In My Father’s house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you. 3And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also. 4And you know the way where I am going.”5Thomas *said to Him, “Lord, we do not know where You are going. How do we know the way?” 6Jesus *said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father but through Me.
Oneness with the Father
7 If you have come to know Me, you will know My Father also; from now on you know Him, and have seen Him.”
8Philip *said to Him, “Lord, show us the Father, and it is enough for us.” 9Jesus *said to him, “Have I been with you all so long and have you not come to know Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; how can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?
