In Genesis chapter 3, the serpent causes confusion by deceiving Eve into eating the forbidden fruit from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. The serpent cunningly questions God’s command, suggesting that eating the fruit would not lead to death, but instead grant wisdom and make them like God, knowing good and evil. This tempts Eve, who eats the fruit and gives some to Adam. Their eyes are opened, and they become aware of their nakedness, leading to shame and fear. The confusion lies in the distortion of God’s truth, which leads to disobedience, the fall of humankind, and their eventual expulsion from the Garden of Eden.
